I’m sure some of us celebrated Valentine’s day last week and what better day to spend some quality time with your loved one. But what if his plan was to propose to you? Would that have been cheesy or romantic and were you ready for it? Let’s go back to the beginning to explore what Valentine’s day is really about. Once upon a time, Emperor Claudius II believed married men made bad soldiers, so he banned marriages. But a brave Roman priest, by the name of St. Valentine, still believed in the magic of love and went behind the emperor’s back wed lovers in secret.Valentine was thrown in jail and sentenced to death. While imprisoned, Valentine fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and when he was taken to be killed, on Feb. 14 he sent her a love letter signed, “From your Valentine.”

But how does that translate in 2018? No, we no longer need to write letters to our significant other because they are probably a text, phone call or $5 uber ride away. Let’s not take that for granted. Let’s stop believing that shivery is dead so why try to save it? Instead, let’s spread love and follow our heart because life is too short. So, if you had the chance to broadcast your feelings to your significant other on that exact day then we really hope you did!! Love is never cheesy, it’s a beautiful thing so why not share it with that perfect someone for the rest of your life.
